As red blood cells have A, O, B and AB blood tpye, white blood cells also have their specific blood type, which is called HLA, Human Leukocyte Antigen.
Patients with bone marrow transplantation, organ transplantaion and multiple blood transfusion might become refractory to random PC and require HLA-matched PC.
What is the registration for HLA-matched PC?
The rate of HLA compatibility among brothers and sister is 1 out of 4, and in case of non-relatives it may vary from 1 out of several hundreds to 1 out of several tens of thousands. We would like to ask your registration as a donor for HLA-matched PC.
If you agree to be a donor, we will exame your HLA type.
